What are custom formats?
In some instances, a customer may create their own job format. When this occurs, they will be able to set basic requirements for all future orders in that format. This could include any of the following:
- A new name for the format
- A unique description of what research and experience will be required for each topic
- A custom word count outside of our normal ranges
How do I receive work in custom formats?
When creating a custom format, a customer must send you a rate request for you to qualify for future orders in that format.
When you receive a request, it will appear in the Rate Requests section of your home page.
From here, you'll be able to see the format name and the expected length of jobs in this format. In addition, you'll be able to see our suggestion on the minimum price you should charge for this order.
If you're interested in completing work in this format, click Set Rate on the right side of the request.
Next, a pop up will appear with a short description of the format (provided by the customer). Read over this description to make sure you have a good understanding of the project, then enter the amount you would like to be paid for each assignment you complete in this format.
Once confirmed, your rate will be sent directly to the customer. If they're ready to proceed at that price, you should expect a job request in that format soon!
What if I need more information on the format?
If you need additional information from the customer at any point in time, click Message Customer and you'll be able to ask them questions about the format directly.
How do I know if I'm setting a good price for the format?
Prices should vary depending on the difficulty of the format. Consider raising your price a bit if you feel the work will require an extensive amount of research, or requires experience with a very technical or unique skill.
In addition, it's always a great idea to use our suggested minimum as a starting point. Rest assured, it's not possible for any writer to charge below our suggested minimum price.
What if I don't want work in a specific format?
If you don't want to work on a specific format, simply click Reject.
If you do, you'll be taken to a screen asking you to confirm that you aren't interested.
Click Confirm, and we'll notify the customer that you are not interested. Rest assured, you will never be penalized for rejecting a rate request in a custom format.
If you'd prefer to stop receiving these requests, you can also opt out of receiving these requests at any time in the Public Info section of your profile.
